Frozen jicama – naturally fresh, crisp, and sweet in full flavor
Jicama – also known as water yam – has long been a familiar and humble root vegetable in Vietnamese cuisine, prized for its refreshing taste, mild sweetness, and natural crunch. With its high water content, low calories, and rich fiber, jicama not only provides a cooling sensation when eaten raw but is also widely used in many traditional dishes such as salads, stir-fries, fillings, or chilled desserts.
To meet the demand for year-round use and convenient storage, frozen jicama products have been developed – preserving freshness, crunch, and natural sweetness through the BQF freezing process. After harvest, jicama is peeled and cut into slices, strips, or blocks according to requirements, then quickly deep-frozen to lock in moisture and ensure the product does not lose nutrients or drip water upon thawing.
Frozen jicama is especially favored by food processing factories, industrial kitchens, restaurant chains, and supermarkets for its convenience, cleanliness, time-saving preparation, and versatile applications: from salads, vegetarian rolls, stir-fries with shrimp or meat, soups, to dessert toppings or mixed with fruit juices for added crispness. The product meets export standards, particularly in markets such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and some European countries – where natural, minimally processed, and digestive-friendly foods are preferred.
Additionally, jicama contains vitamin C, soluble fiber, water, and light minerals – contributing to weight management, skin health, body detoxification, and immune support. With the growing demand for "fresh & clean" foods, frozen jicama is increasingly becoming an ideal ingredient for diet, vegan, or healthy snack products.
The product is vacuum-packed or PE-bagged depending on requirements, stored at -18°C, and can be used within 12–18 months while maintaining its fresh and crisp quality. The closed production process complies with food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO, or certifications required by import markets.
Frozen jicama not only retains the simplicity and purity of Vietnamese agricultural produce but also affirms its potential to expand into international markets with stable quality, high convenience, and outstanding nutritional value.
